Over the years, I have successfully helped hundreds of DOT employees return to safety sensitive functions successfully.
While much of this success is dependent on the employee, I believe my 38 years in recovery, experience as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in addition to my Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) work has provided me with a process that is challenging to the employee who desires to get back in good standing with DOT.
My process includes:
- Conducting an initial evaluation
- Determining education/rehabilitation requirements
- Directing client to the appropriate resource options for education/rehabilitation
- Monitoring the clients progress
- Completing the DOT required Follow-Up evaluation
- Documentation in Clearinghouse (for CDL drivers)
I keep in close communication with the Designated Employer Representative (DER) and make certain that the DER has all essential documentation in a timely manner.
