Overview of DOT SAP Return to Duty process

As your designated SAP, I perform the initial evaluation and then I provide you with my recommendations for education or treatment. Once you complete the education or treatment recommendation, I then meet with you and re-evaluate to determine compliance and establish a follow-up testing plan.

The fee for the RTD SAP service including the two assessments and the required paperwork is $512, payable at the time of booking your first assessment.

I have attempted to make a confusing process as simple as possible by using the checklist below that you can follow on your path to returning to duty and begin the process immediately online.

If you choose me to help you with your return to duty process, please complete steps 1,2 & 3 to set our first video assessment.

  1. Select your SAP (Perret deLapouyade) in Clearinghouse  (this step is for CDL/CLP holders only)
  2. Complete the on boarding questionnaire
  3. Schedule your 1st video  evaluation/assessment (This is done via video meeting)
  4. Complete requirements given during evaluation
  5. Schedule your follow up assessment
  6. Take a Non-DOT 5 panel urine drug screen to ensure you are ready for RTD screening
  7. Clearinghouse updated to show Ready to take RTD test with employer

How long does is take to be able to return to duty?  There is no one answer for everyone. This is determined by the requirements determined after the 1st assessment and how quickly you address those.
On the short side it could be as little as 4 days but we will be able to give a better estimate to you after a phone consultation.
We have put all of the required tools on our website to make it a smooth SAP process for you and to help expedite it.
